Kilishi is pure protein and made from all-natural ingredients, without any added artificial additives. Ever. With very little fat and carbohydrate content Kilishi is the perfect snack for the health-conscious consumer. Selected lean muscles from cow, sheep, or goat, are sliced into thin sheets. They are dried out under strict hygienic conditions until brittle. The sheets are then dipped in a spicy paste that consists of choice peppers, peanuts, onion, garlic and salt. A little honey is added to the mixfor those who like a touch of sweetness. The coated sheets are then dried for hours, before they are finally fire-roasted. Kilishi can be stored for months without losing any texture or taste. Kilishi originates from Hausaland, in Northern Nigeria, and it is enjoyed all across West and Central Africa and, in fact, wherever Hausa people are found.
