Our Organic Cafe Grade matcha is made from pure USDA & JAS certified organic tea leaves and is ground in small batches to ensure the freshest possible tea. Most 'matcha' sold in the US is made from sencha grown in China and has a brownish color, grassy taste, and a suspiciously cheap price. We only sell real matcha that is 100% tencha (shade grown) from Japan! This results in a bright green color and a smooth, mild flavor that beats most other brands "ceremonial' grades". The leaves used for Cafe Grade are located toward the middle of the tea plant and are harvested in early summer. They have slightly less sweetness and a stronger flavor when compared to our Ceremonial Grades. This makes Cafe Grade perfect for use as an everyday tea, latte, and/or smoothie. Best of all, it contains just as many nutrients and antioxidants as other Ceremonial Grade teas which can cost twice as much!
