Named after the Piedmont town of Arborio in Northern Italy, Arborio rice originated in 1946 as a Japonica cultivar from the Vialone variety. It is noted for its ability to absorb flavour and produce a creamy texture due to it's high amylose (starch) content. We have been bringing quality ingredients from the Mediterranean to chefs since 1991.
